Enjoy life and Your health Will take care of Itself

Somebody has said, “Life is a dream, live it”. Whether life is a dream or not, we can always dream about life as we like. Life is not a burden to be carried as some people think. It is an opportunity given by God to live and enjoy ourselves. The mind is the noblest possession of man given by God. It is the mind that makes life heaven or hell. Since the mind can be controlled, it is within our power to make it either a heaven or a hell. If we plan our life in the way God has meant it to be, we can enjoy life fully, keeping excellent health.

The five senses given to us are meant for us to know, to understand and to enjoy. We are surrounded by all the pleasant things of life. What is needed is that we should keep our senses alert. We can see beauty in everything only if we care to do so. Not that we will never come across adversity in life, but if we learn to take it in our stride, much botheration will be avoided. Let us not brood over our sorrows and become tense. Sorrows are passing clouds which move away when the next wind blows. No sorrow in this world is permanent. Even sorrows can be taken as God-sent to make us understand life better. As the great poet Goldsmith has said, these are only “Little rubs that providence sends to enhance the value of its favors.”

By cultivating tastes, we can add more flavor to our lives. Let us learn to enjoy the abundant beauty around us, cultivate a taste for as many arts as possible, love the good things of life, make friendship a treasure to preserve, and make the right choices to please ourselves. By developing a positive attitude towards life, we can keep our mind free of all tensions and fill it with joy and pleasure. This is the right way of keeping the mind healthy.

Life is not what it is but what we make of it. Since health is dependent on the attitude of the mind, it is imperative to develop a healthy attitude towards everything in life. Hatred, anger, jealousy, intolerance etc., are negative qualities that disturb the equilibrium of the mind. This condition tells upon the functioning of the nervous system, which in turn affects physical good health. To live happily is the best way to live in good health. Happiness is only an attitude of mind, and it is the result of our perception of things happening around us. Certain incidents and events that happen in and around our lives have an adverse impact on our emotions and disturb our peace of mind. They are all a part of life and should be faced with courage and confidence. The impact of adverse events can be reduced to a great extent if we have a positive perception of these.

The mind is under our control, but events that happen around us are not. So the right thing to do is not to allow events to take control of our mind. As our mind is already conditioned by so many other factors like religion, upbringing, education, social environment etc., it may not be easy to keep our mind’s reaction within our control. The mind can be conditioned by rational thinking; by constant practice we can decondition it from negative thinking, and then condition it to take a positive view of whatever happens.

By planting good and positive thoughts we can condition our mind to our own way of thinking. In the process, it is always better to keep our attention on the good things of life. In this way, we can keep our mind busy with things enjoyable and interesting.

One should learn to be always happy. This requires showing interest in everything. When we pass along a road, we see interesting things, and there is no point in closing our eyes to them. Charming babies, beautiful women, attractive animals, imposing buildings, artistic signboards, colorful show-windows, carefully laid roads, an aged person walking along with a vigor unmindful of age, the musical way a vendor hawks goods – the list is endless, as we walk along the road. We can either shut our eyes and ears to these things or keep them open and enjoy the variety of life. What we see and enjoy is more important than what is happening on our way.

As we go for a morning walk, it may be just a physical exercise, but we can enjoy sights we come across. It is a question of taking full benefit of every small event in life. This keeps our mind enjoyably occupied and this kind of practice will energize it and lead it to good health. There are several innovative approaches to life, and a person with imagination will have a thousand ways of doing it. Enriching life is enriching the mind, and enriching the mind is the result of positive perception.

Yes, life is a dream and we have to live it. We can dream anything we like and make ourselves happy. It is wrong to think that only physical possessions give happiness. The power to imagine is the greatest blessing of God, so why should we feel shy of imagining happy things? Whatever we think about or imagine deeply, takes root in our unconscious mind, and once the unconscious mind registers something, it has the power to show us the way to realize it. This is a psychological fact verified by practical experimentation.

Let us always keep a happy state of mind and enjoy life. What gives us joy is our choice and we are free to choose it. In pursuing joy, we may come across some difficulties, but make it a pleasant job to get over these difficulties. Then life becomes one smooth course of joy, happiness and fulfillment.

This is a sure recipe for good health. Though generally health is supposed to be a condition of the body, the real health of a person is rooted in his mind. A healthy mind ensures a healthy body. A strong mind has the power to cure illness and also has the power to prevent it. Keeping the mind, body and the environment in natural harmony is the real guarantee of good health. When we start enjoying life with a happy perception of things, good health is its concomitant result.
