Chinese Paper-cut
Chinese paper-cut is a kind of ancient manual art, which has existed in folk for more than 2,000
years. But nobody knows for sure about its first appearance. It is said that paper-cut dates back to the time before paper was invented by Cai Lun. Then it gained its further development in Southern and Northern Dynasty, and reached its peak in Qing Dynasty, when economy was in rapid development.
In the past, paper was made into the shape of animals and people, then buried with the death or burnt on a funeral. However, paper-cut, which is put on a window or wall, is often used for decoration now.
Paper-cut is very popular among women who like to spend their free time doing this in ancient time. It is with their industry, skill and a pair of scissors that a great deal of wonderful paper-cut is produced.
Paper-cut, to some extent has become a symbol of Chinese culture, manifesting a kind of pure and simple folkway of Chinese people.
