Jack was the team leader of the investigation group in the Seoul Police Station in Korea. At that time their focus was on the case about illegal narcotics trafficking. The criminal gang chieftain, Tony Chong was planning to push heroin within southeast Asia. Jack was handsome and kind-hearted. He lived a simple life and alone. No parents, no brothers and sisters. He was an orphan. But his job as a policeman contented him much for policemen were always respected.
After questioning Michelle, Jack felt sympathetic for her. She was also an orphan. What’s worse than him, she got no where to live in. Perhaps for this reason, Jack let her go.
“Never do this again. Do you understand? Go!”
Michelle left with a cunning smile. What a stupid cop! Yes, Jack was so careless that he didn’t find this foxy lady had taken away his wallet again. However, to her disappointment, there weren’t much cash in the wallet. She sighed. Suddenly, an idea struck her. She couldn’t help grinning.
After a long tiring work, Jack rose and stretched himself. He would like to have a cup of coffee to refresh himself. Until then he found his wallet stolen. It was her! What luck! But he didn’t have any idea where she went. He had to let go.
Jack was never thought that Michelle was waiting for him at his door.
“My Wallet! I know you have it”, Jack reached out a hand and said.
“Jack Lau. A nice name, sounds like Jack Bauer. Do you work for CTU?” Looking at his ID card, Michelle poked fun at him, of course, with her charming smile. (Jack Bauer is a federal agent in the popular American TV series 24 Hours. CTU, Counter Terrorist Unit, is an imaginary government department. Jack Bauer works for CTU.)
“Hey! Don’t be nonsense! If I were Bauer, how could I be in Korea. Wallet! I just want my wallet back. Give it to me! I won’t charge you. I give you my word.”
“Your word? Is your word worth money?” Michelle laughed. “We may make a deal. I crash here for a night, and I give back your wallet. How’s that? For pity’s sake, OK?”
Her eyes were fixed on him. It was innocent, as well as attracting. Though unwillingly, Jack finally gave up. There was no way out. Besides, it did no harm to him. Just do her a favour. That’s what a cop must do —– always ready to help others. This is Jack. So kind and uncommon.
Jack offered his room to Michelle and he slept in the living room. If consider that they had known each other for no more than 12 hours, he was good to her, a pickpocket.
Next morning, Jack was preparing busily in the kitchen. After a while, the table was groaned with delicious food. He wanted to send her away. “Eat at pleasure. Then you can leave. I let you crash in my house last night. That’s enough. I don’t want to see you when I come back.” But his words didn’t fluster her at all. She just smiled and said nothing. Again, she used her wits by stealing his handcuff.
Jack was out to arrest some outlaws. When fighting at close quarters, he was wounded because he had no handcuff on the outlaw in time. He knew it was she that took it.
At the sight of an uncluttered home, his anger was cooled. Holding a vase in her hand, Michelle smiled, “Do you like it?” She then became nervous, “What’s wrong with your hand? Are you OK?” Michelle carefully dressed his wound in the living room. This time she was sincere, not feigned. Apparently, Jack was moved. Nothing came out from his mouth. He let her live in his house.
