A common but true love story(part two)
In the leisure time of his retirement, granddaughter on his legs, grandson sitting by, he talked about the experience; about the different places he went, about how he ate 10 frogs at a time. And she, usually was doing the housework beside, also was a quite listener. The look of the outside world, and the way of life he lived outside, formed up a shape in her mind little by little from his narration.
Time went by, he became not as flexible as he was before, and she was his chief. He liked to talk about what he wanted to eat for the next meal at the dinner table, always the greasy foods. And she, didn’t remember since when, had formed a habit of being wordy, to the trivial, to his bad habit such as favoring for greasy foods. Anyway, next meal, the greasy foods he said in the previous meal always appeared at the table.
Shortly after a cold season, he passed away at a freezing night, because of the sudden hit of the tracheitis together with that cold. He was 84. She was totally beaten down, too sad to swallow even the liquid food and fallen ill for the next couple months. She lived 2 years more, died of belly cancer. In her last 2 months, she told her granddaughter that he always came to her sick-bed, told her don’t be afraid and the pain would passed soon. She finished her life journey on a summer Saturday noon, almost like asleep, except with a drop of tear slowly sliding down her face after the last breathe.
Life is short, Thanks God, for making them meet each other…
